Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina has vowed to oppose President Donald Trump's nominee for Federal Reserve chair, former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh. The objection stems from Tillis's disapproval of the Justice Department's investigation into current Fed Chair Jerome Powell, which he views as an attempt to pressure the central bank.

The DOJ probe focuses on Powell's testimony last summer regarding a renovation project at the Fed's headquarters. TRUMP has repeatedly criticized Powell and pushed for aggressive rate cuts, though he claims no involvement in the investigation. With Tillis not seeking re-election, his opposition could delay Warsh's confirmation for nearly a year.
